British Air Transport Auxiliary
Polly Potter Forsstrom Ross
Polly Potter had been an active member of the Ninety-Nines since 1932. She flew in several of the early air races and knew Jackie Cochran well from early women's air derby's. She held a private license with over 800 hours of light time logged when she applied for the Air Transport Auxiliary. She was a 30 year-old divorcee with an 8 year-old son at the time of her application. She traveled to England with the third group of American women in April of 1942 and was released due to illness shortly thereafter.
